Surface Protection has invested in some of the most advanced computer controlled plant available to provide zinc plated components to the highest industry standards. We can offer all current automotive top coats, lacquers, torque and tension and passivates. Clear, colour and hexavalent chrome free passivations are applied as standard for the automotive industry.
With 2 large capacity, zinc rack lines Surface Protection has the capability of processing up to 30 flight bars per hour on each line. All components, passing through the rack plants, are dried on line in two stage temperature controlled dryers.
A wide variety of different sizes and shape of components can be handled by our highly flexible facility, with the plant capable of handling widely differing types of sequential batches including components up to 3 metres long, 2 metres deep and 1 metre wide.
Surface Protection Ltd also has three high volume, computer controlled barrel zinc plating lines capable of processing in excess of 600 tonnes of components per week. Using both acid and alkaline zinc plating processes, this lines provide the ideal facility for the plating of smaller components, however because of the design components up to 100 mm long may be barrel zinc plated at a much lower cost than rack zinc plating.
As and when required, or specified by the customer, there is a de-embrittlement system in place, particularly necessary when plating high tensile or heat treated carbon steel products. Nevertheless, even after such products have undergone the de-embrittlement process we are unable to give any absolute guarantee that the risk of fracture due to hydrogen embrittlement has been totally eliminated, for such products we would always recommend our alternative mechanical zinc plating process where there is no risk of any hydrogen embrittlement occurring.
